In error, Chris Cornell was announced as a performer at the LAYN charity show in Los Angeles on November 22nd. Chris was asked to participate but could not confirm due to an existing schedule conflict. Regardless, Chris hopes all of his fans will go and support Slash, Ozzy and the other guests for this event that will help get homeless youth off the streets of LA. Tonight more than 10,000 youth will sleep on the streets of Los Angeles.
Instead of a bed, these kids will sleep in abandoned buildings and under freeways and wake each morning without food, water or basic medical service. While some leave their homes on their own volition, many are thrown out or abandoned on the street; a burden their families no longer want or need. Of the 12-17 year old runaways we see, most of their parents never report them missing.
Founded in 1984, The Los Angeles Youth Network (LAYN) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency whose mission is to end homelessness one kid at a time, by providing
shelter, food and counseling for the abuse, neglected and abandoned. LAYN’s mission is
to help homeless adolescents become self-sufficient. We do this by providing street
outreach, food, emergency shelter and transitional living programs, with a professional, caring staff in a nurturing and safe environment. The goals for each child are to successfully complete the permanent transition away from street life to a safe and secure living environment and to fully
participate in society. For more information, visit http://www.layn.org
